So, without further ado, let’s get started!
Difficulty: Easy |Total time: 1 hour 30 minutes | Servings: 4
Clever Cookery’s Easy Hold Wavy Cutter
Deep frying pan (sides should be around 2 inches high)
2-3 large russet potatoes
Salt and pepper to taste
½ teaspoon paprika
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon onion powder
First, peel and rinse the potatoes. Next, grab the Easy Hold Wavy Cutter and begin making slices about ¼ inch in thickness, rotating the potato 90 degrees after each cut for a lattice fry effect.
Place the potatoes in cold water and let them soak in the fridge for up to an hour. This will get rid of their starch coating and make them extra crispy! While you’re waiting, combine all of the spices in a separate bowl and set it to the side. Once they’re ready, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with some paper towels.
Pour a few inches of oil into your pan and heat it till it reaches about 275 F. Lightly drop your potatoes in and occasionally stir the pan while they cook. Hot tip – don’t overcrowd them. We also do not want them too brown at this point! It might seem odd but frying them twice gives them that crispness we all love and adore. After 5 minutes, take them out and pat them dry again.
Bring up the temperature to 350 F, drop the potatoes in and fry them until they look golden and crispy. After 5 to 6 minutes, take them out, sprinkle on the seasoning, grab your favourite dip and enjoy!
